The company designs and has manufactured LED lighting products using their light-guide/LED technology patent portfolio. The focus of Design LED’s commercial exploitation is into general lighting applications where the USPs of high optical efficiency, thin/flexible panels and beam angle control, are enabling the next generation of energy efficient lighting based on LEDs.
The technology also enables a wide range of other products where the thin, inexpensive, mechanically flexible, and segmented capabilities are suitable for lighting and backlighting applications in consumer electrical & electronic devices, automotive, point of sale advertising & industrial keypads.
Within the relevant technology and market sectors, Design LED’s core strengths include unique and patented light-guide/LED technology, an established outsource manufacturing technology platform, product design, product engineering and qualification, applications development, sales/marketing. The company has recently raised 2M euro in private equity investment including some funding from Siemens and OSRAM, and now employs 8 persons. The company has two licenced manufacturing partnerssupporting its outsource manufacturing model, who are also selling their own products with Design LED technology.
